When it comes to finding a great ice fishing bait, we like the spike. These little guys may be maggots, but they also just might be one of the most effective ice fishing baits for catching panfish you’ll ever use.

How to Keep Your Bait in Great Shape
You’ll want to keep your spikes at around 33-40° F for maximum shelf life. Since most refrigerators are usually kept around 40° F, we recommend you store your spikes in the coldest place in your refrigerator. You don’t need to feed your spikes. In their larva state, spikes live off their body fat.
